Thread: Triton saws

I think the "flat top" version is an earlier model. I have that "flat top" model, but I don't know how it compares to the more conventional shape. I suspect, but don't know, that Triton introduced the 'rounded" model as it fit in better with the market's expectations of what a circular saw should look like. Possibly, marketing and company tribulations got in the way before there was really an opportunity to evaluate differences.

Pretty much what Paul said; the plainer looking model is the original one from when Triton were still an Aussie company which has since been usurped by the jazzier looking one. Both have the same features which made the Triton saw stand out from the rest of the pack so really I guess it boils down to which one do you prefer to look at? Or use hand held? If you are going to sell one I suspect the later model may fetch a few more pennies.

I have two of them; one mounted in a workcentre permanently set in table saw mode and the other in a second workcentre permanently set in overhead mode which allows me to quickly remove it for handheld use. Fitted with a decent ripping blade the saw breezes through 40mm thick redgum.

I thought they were very similar underneath the exterior

the "flat top" was always in the WC2000, however this morning I took it out and put them side by side for comparison

One obvious difference is that the newer one has a laser guide as well as different cosmetics

but maybe thats all
