    Default Triton Table saw

    Hi All,

I absolutely love my triton router and table.. however, i am very quickly discovering the limitation of using the trition table saw. On the whole it isnt too bad... I recognise the fact that its pretty bloody good for only $200, but the saw itself is whats starting to get to me.

I have taken the blade gaurd and spring off the saw to make it a little lighter in the table (dont stress people.. I would never use it out of the table with the gaurd removed.. this is only for table use). I have set it up as best i can and can get reasonable cuts when it is set to full cut depth..

My biggest problem at the minute though is the fact that the saw is not 90 degrees to teh table, The weight of teh motor apears to kick the saw over a couple of degrees and i have had to use a series of cable ties to hold the motor up so that the blade is vartical. As you can imagine, it is a real pain to lower the blade.

Has anyone else experienced this and is there a workaraound? Should i just bite the bullet and buy a different circular saw.. or maybe a proper table saw?

    What do you think?

    Cheers

    Joe

Guess you are talking about the Powered Saw Table, and not the WorkCentre with a real Triton saw.

    Thats right Stu,

Got the powered table saw... I'm very quickly discovering its limitations... It seems that it can do what i need it to.. but the set up time to make sure everything is spot on is starting to grate me a little.

    Cheers

    Default saw stabiliser

I used to use a large makita CS in an old triton table. The only way I could stop it flexing off square (due to the torque of the motor) was to get the after-market saw stabiliser kit. Worked a treat.

Worth the money for the Makita. Not worth the money for the pretty ordinary saw in the Powered Saw table. Put the money of the bracket towards a better saw, or look at the threads in the rest of the forum about other Table saw options. Triton is in there, but doesn't have much support in the rest of the forums. I'm still happy with my workcentre and Triton saw, as are many other happy owners. Then there are "The Others". Get a balanced opinion, and decide how much you are wanting to spend.

Yeah, Im thinking a new saw is probably the way to go..

Its not that the blade is flexign or anythig like that.... but the fact that i have to support the motor body to keep the blade square is very frustrating...

I think i may have to price a few things up... and then spend more money.. haha

Sounds like you haven't attached the saw stabiliser rod. I own a Mk3 triton, and had the same hassle till i attached it, now no problem at all. I also had a monor hassle with the saw frame, and when i bought the 2000 saw frame it differed from the Mk3, so i altered it to suit.

I have also built quite a few extras for the Mk3, extended saw table and also built my work bench with the triton inbuilt to cut pine up to 5 metres long, and also to trim door panels and such.

If you need any ideas please ask, as i have adapted quite a few ideas from books to use on my Mk3, as i use mine daily here for work.

    Default Triton Saw tables

    Mate,
Know exactly what you are going through.

1st thing - get a straight edge and run over your table top - fair chance if the top is a few years old it will have a dip in it.

If it has,(as mine was) then getting the blade and fence square to the table top and the fence paralell to the blade in the vertical plane becomes an impossibility.

It is easier to pick fly droppings out of pepper with boxing gloves on!!

The alternative - somthing with a cast iron top - you wont' look back and you will not have this problem

    Thanks pete, Colin.

Firstly, pete, I have the powered saw table, not the workscentre so the stabiliser wont fit on it.. or at least not without modification. I need to take a look at whether i can do something similar. but i am hoping i can come up with something to get me by.

Secondly, Colin, the saw top is flat.. mostly.. but i know what you mean about gettign a "real saw" I get the feeling that i'm going to have to upgrade.. i'm thinking about maxing out hte credit card at the working with wood show this year.. but i'll have to talk to the missus first..

Then again, the first day of the show in melbourne is on my birthday so i might treat myself.. haha

    Cheers
