Default Triton TRA001 available in OZ? Or just get CMT7E from UK?

Hi all, I'm looking to get a a replacement TRA001 router for my router table. My current unit (old model) is giving too many problems - height adjustment jams, collet slips, etc.

A google search shows that no one in OZ has the TRA001 in stock (been this way for months now). UK sellers on ebay AU are asking for AUD $700++ for the unit.

I just noticed that I can get the CMT7E (which appears to be a rebranded Triton TRA001) from Amazon for around AUD $480 delivered from UK:

CMT CMT7E Router Machine: Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement

Sounds like a good deal at the moment. I presume I'll just have to change over the power plug to use it here.

I'm just hesitating due to potential warranty issues.

    Thoughts and advice appreciated.

Thanks for that. Interesting. I downloaded the CMT catalogue - link here and had a perusal.

Seems as well as a TRA001 copy/rebadge? they are also selling the JOF001. No MOF001 though.

    CMT sell some top gear.

Re your Amazon link, do Prime members get free postage? It would cost an additional $90 if not.

Yes - I have Amazon Prime and postage would be free.

The only thing holding me back from buying it are potential warranty issues. I would much prefer to buy locally, even if I have to pay a bit more.

IMHO Triton make highly innovative products but their manufacturing quality control leaves a lot to be desired. Amazon are pretty good with returns during the first 30 days. After that you have to ship it back to them at your expense. A 7kg parcel to the UK would cost more than AUD $100.

    Hi all,

Ignore previous posts. More information has come to light.

It appears that the CMT7E was made for the European market and comes standard with 8mm and 12mm metric collets only. Imperial collets would have to be an extra purchase.

Doing another search reveals that Amazon UK actually sell the Triton TRA001 at a very tempting price of AUD $385 delivered! (With Prime membership.)

Triton TRA001-2400V Dual Mode Precision Plunge Router 230V: Amazon.com.au: Home Improvement

This comes with both 12mm and 1/2" collets. A 1/4" collet costs $25 extra.

Very good price - seriously thinking of pulling the trigger now.

Does Prime membership give you discount on the item price because it says $424.37 for me.

No discount for Prime - only free delivery.

The price has gone up. Was $385.79 yesterday. Showing as $424.37 today. Amazon pricing algorithm at work

I will have to monitor this.

    Hi Rabster

    Have you purchased the Triton?

Is the TRA001 on Amazon fully compatible with Aust electricity supply? I imagine plug would have to be swapped.
    Also thinking of buying

Looks like the price is heading back down again. Back to $395.39 now so getting close to the original price rabster saw.
