Can't help you with Q1 and Q2, it's a while ago since I had a Triton router table and I had my Makita 3600BR in there.

Q3, you can use a 1/2" to 1/4" sleeve from anyone, but some people have said that the one from Roger Gifkins seems to be the bees knees for the Triton router chuck. Having said that I'm not a fan of 1/4" router bits in abig router in the router table, only use my 1/4" bits in a smaller handheld router with a dedicated 1/4" chuck.

Coincidentally, I drove through Sunbury yesterday and stopped at a garage sale, they had an almost unused Mk3 Workcentre complete with stand for sale for $200, he seemed negotiable as well. If it wasn't for car being already full of SWMBO's carp I would have bought it and sold it on. Seem to remember they go for a fair bit more than that these days?

Having lost my original Triton reducer I bought one of Roger Gifkin at the last show.

Works better than the original, especially in a router table, just pop in the reducer into the collet from the top and the router bit into that and tighten. When you want to use the larger bits just lift out the reducer, no fiddling about.

Q1 - If it has the keyhole mounts that is all you need

Q2, the springs should be at the other end from the mount bolt head. They pull the head back into the router base when not in the table.

Also a good idea to remove the spring for table work

Thanks Brian, I finally figured the springs out. Have got it fitted to my old Mk3. I will take out the springs from under the nuts.
But is two mounting points enough for such a big router? Also I took the plastic base off so I could mount the router metal to metal, is that OK or should I put it back on?

WHOOPS, by removing the spring I meant removing the large plunge return spring inside the router. This should be explained in the manual

Removing eth plastic base gives you a few extra mm of height and shouldn't be a problem

I had a reducer for the 1/4" bits - but hated using it. Never felt like the bit was held tight enough. Ended up buying one of the collet chucks from the guy on Ebay.

Don't want to sound like a paid advertisement - but it is a fantastic unit. I like the instructions he provides (he says to throw out the reducer - which I promptly did!).

Thanks bpj1968, I was reading the manual last night and saw the bit about the spring. Will do that this arvo and see how it goes.

Fibonacci do you have a link to the e-bay site for the collet chucks? I'll do a search in the meantime.

Yikes, collet = $125 Plus....
I just ordered a Gifkin reducer for $27 inclu postage.
Should be OK for what I do and just replace old 1/4" bits with 1/2" as time goes by.

I have put my TRA001 into the Mk3 router table. I notice that the mounting bolts and base mounting plate cause the router to be aligned at about 40 degrees to the table. Is that normal? Also the mounting bolt wing nuts clamp onto the plastic shroud for the dust/chip extractor on both bolts. Is that normal.
I have read the manual and found nothing there to suggest the correct/incorrect position of the router or the correct/incorrect fitment of the shroud.

The router fits and works well, but I have lingering concerns I haven't put the router into the base correctly.
I'll attach photos as soon as I can but in the meantime any comments?
I am still in awe of this Triton router. The features outshine all others.

Yes, although you might expect that the handles would finish up parallel with the table, they don't - nothing to worry about.

I don't understand this part either, sorry. In this picture:


the clamping bolt is shown - which tightens onto its own raised casting in the base. HTH

Photo showing the plastic shroud under the mounting wingnut, there is a rebate for it to sit there so it must be right, right?

The offset of the router on the base must make it easier for under table adjustments, right?
