    Hi All,

    An update - I ordered a new speed controller from UK, plus some brushes and brush caps (Plug for Attention Required! | Cloudflare ). Parts were $135 incl freight and around 2 1/2 weeks which is not bad over Christmas.
    I replaced brushes anyway, and speed controller and problem solved.
    Thank you to all who offered advice and support

    When I bought my replacement speed controller from UK, it with a set of new brushes.
    Did not change them, yet!!!
