Thread: Triton Training DVD/Video

If anyone is really stuck I can get one locally from beyond tools for $13. Bought one today to learn about mine

first time post, so please be kind!

Was looking through youtube today and found this [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvOXclI31Zw]YouTube - TRITON Instructional: WCA201 Workcentre Series 2000[/ame] it seems to be an instructional for the Workcentre but its not the same video as the original. but looks official.

Seems to be like Triton are coming back again, looking at their youtube channel, they have some more up to date videos.

Hope to see more of Triton in the future.

New 2000 triton and would love a DVD

I have had the Mk2 triton for about 10 years so I am doing Ok but I would love a copy if anyone has one spare or can rip me a copy.

mmmm that could take a while to download out here in the bush

So if you do take the above approach, it's assumed you understand how torrents work. That being the case, a slow link will just take you longer to download it. It's pretty immune to being disconnected as things just pick up where they are left off, even if you don't come back to the download for days or weeks.

Having said all that, be aware that there are currently 2 active torrents related to the Triton 2000 DVD.

One refers to Triton-2000-workcentre and the other to triton2000-table-saw. These torrents contain identical files so do not be tempted to download both - waste of bandwith.

By mistake, I posted off my last Training DVD to a member of this forum, so I tried the torrent. I've got a very good broadband connection, but it took >2 days to download! After all that, the result is very dependent on the software you use to burn it to DVD. I've found UltraISO to be the best, as lesser software tends to result in out-of-sync picture and speech and a distinct lack of menus.

TH slow down load is not because of the file size, it relates to the number of seeds vs leechers.
Seeds have the torrent available, leechers are downloading. (Supply and demand) so doug your download will probably only take as long as ray

For those who might be learning something from this thread it is important to clarify a couple of things here.

If you download a ".iso" file then what you have is an "image" file. Burning that to a DVD will produce an identical image and sound quality to the original DVD regardless what software you use to write the file to the disk. This is why image files are so big e.g. 4GB, because they are an identical snapshot of the content of the original DVD they came from.

If, however, you download a ".avi" file, it might look great on your PC, but if you want to watch it on a standard DVD player, the software you use to write the file to the DVD has to convert it into a very specific DVD format. This conversion process is usually what causes video quality to degrade and causes audio sync issues. It is also why you don't get any menus.

As BPJ mentions, the speed of download of a torrent is directly proportional to the number of people sharing in the torrent, and the upload speeds of those people.

If there are only a few people in the torrent, downloads take a lot longer. Also note, it is possible to have zero seeders, and only leechers, and still get the whole file - but that is diving into more detail than is required here.

Using "Vuze Plus" and its own built-in DVD burning software produced a disk with no menu structure AT ALL and with speech and video completely out of sync.

Using "UltraISO" produced a DVD with full menu and good in-sync video. This cannot have been the fault of the torrent as the only variable was the software used.

That was my actual experience, which is why I posted it. There may not be a theoretical reason for it, but that's exactly what happened.

I too have just joined, and am also looking for a video/DVD for the 2000 workcentre. Not ever downloaded something of this size before, and don't understand seekers and leechers! If possible would like to get an actual DVD or video.

If you have downloaded an .ISO file why not watch it on your computer (assuming you dont need to burn a DVD - though it is always useful to have a DVD 'hard copy' stored somewhere else).

Just use a program such as VLC to view the video on your computer.

VLC is free and works really, really well.

You can also copy those .ISO files to a USB drive ( and also copy VLC to the same USB while you're at it) and run it from the USB if you're off to a mate's place for a little "Adults only Woodworking". Your mate will not need to have VLC nor your ISO file loaded on his machine as you will be running everything from the USB. Brilliant!!!

Here's a recommended (also free) PC program for converting to a DVD discs to ISO files to store on your PC's Hard Drive and/or USB Drive:

INFRA-RECORDER.

Just select "Actions/Copy Disc/ISO file". I've converted around 70 DVDs to ISO files which I now carry around on a little external USB hard drive for demonstration and instruction. No more carting around boxes of DVDs for me.
In this way you'll be keeping your precious DVDs scratch free in storage.
