Thread: Two Triton Workcentre 2000 set-up issues

Traded out of my 2000 many years ago.
I did get lots of success with the saw, I had a 12" Makita in mine. I believe you will find that saw can move sideways in the frame it mounts to. I also had to be aware when putting the saw in, around the wrong way is easily done.

Never had any real success with the router table, the problem you have I also had, plus the centre of the table sags so there is a dip in the middle. Traded out before I applied myself to a fix. BUT possibly packing the table between the router frame and top could be an answer.

Yes, it does move sideways, but the problem is that the saw is right up against the edge on one side and could do with going another 1mm or two. I have wondered about taking a file to it, but that feels a bit drastic. Especially if my father-in-law did something wrong in the initial setup.

I hadn’t thought about sag being an additional factor. Packing is an interesting suggestion. I've started wondering about making a new top (which could also then go the full length of the main stand – it strikes me as a very bizarre design decision to make it shorter than than the saw table).

The red clip is supposed to be towards the switch box end. Do you have the setup manual?

Am I misunderstanding the manual? The instructions on the chassis and page 8 of the manual indicate that the chassis should be pushed towards the rear panel, and I can't see how the red clip could clip anything at the switch end if that's the case. I have managed to get it to clip in now – at the rear end not the switch end.

I've remounted the saw and struggled for a long time to get the blade straight. I could not see where the problem was and eventually discovered that the saw's mounting is not robust enough. It's an old Ryobi and it seems to twist slightly off true – I wonder if it's been dropped at some point. It has a bit of spring so I can pull it straight with a cable tie from a hole in the edge of the dust port to the saw frame, but that prevents height adjustment. Once I'd done that it cut nice and square. I think it probably needs a new saw but I can't afford that. I made a cross-cut sled with some scrap so the height adjustment is less of an issue. I cut dados etc. with a router anyway so I can get by with the blade being right up all the time. Cutting square is much more critical!

Best thing I ever did was trade up.
20 years of nagging mistrust of alignment and fence back alignment set to .5 off to prevent pinching.
With hours and hours of setup issues.
Loved the saw. Loved the router and the router table.
If you have two of the tables - sell them now and wait till you can afford say a Dewalt DWE7492-xe.
A number of ridiculous prices in the US right now if they haven't already sold out.
Doesn't have to be Dewalt with the rack and pinion.

It took me about two weeks of NOT having a table saw to finally ask the good lady wife to OK the purchase.

I've seen those advertised more than once on facebook and similar for $175
is this what you are referring to, I'd like a new bench saw but I gave them a wide berth - sounded too good to be true and possibly a scam
