Triton's Awful Homepage Menu
Has anyone else noticed the attrocious flying menus on Triton's home page? http://www.triton.com.au/
Being an old timer of 5 months in this forum I know that many woodworkers are also in I.T. As am moi!
So, Stuart, and other Triton heavies please have a whisper in the ear of honorable webmaster.dave
nothing is so easy to do as when you figure out the impossible.

Agreed.
The designers of html set it up to allow very good, very useful, very simple and standard means of navigating through web pages, and effin' fancy pants web page designers have been working hard to create non-useful, awkward, annoying but fancy and ego satisfying alternative ways of navigating ever since.

I don't know what you are all complaining about ..... it is much better than their last website and is still better than many others around.
Now proudly sponsored by Binford Tools. Be sure to check out the Binford 6100 - available now at any good tool retailer.

At least they are interested enough to keep updating it - I see they now have month-of-arrival for the new bench tools.

I have no problems with it. Dynamic HTML? Saves expanding the main navigation to make way for sub-navs... Runs clean and fast - on my browser anyway...
All in all not bad.
DamienIs it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

Is it really that bad guys, we have tried to make it easier to navigate around the site as we had alot of feedback that the old website was very difficult to get around, thus the changes.

It's ok - I find it disconcerting with the menus continually leaping out at me unexpectedly, then to choose one of the submenus, it's like catching a fly with chopsticks sometimes- it leaps away and changes before you can select what you want. Perhaps the javascript hotspots could be limited to the arrow icons, rather than the text area as well, and have a delay on the responsiveness.
I have found the website menu not very user-friendly, particularily on a 1024x768 screen - the powertools menu goes out the bottom of the screen as I mentioned."Clear, Ease Springs"

Firefox as well.
Look, don't get me wrong, I am glad the site has had a long-overdue upgrade, and it does have a nice, fresh new look. It does provide details of all the current tools, their manuals, spares lists etc, which is more than many manufacturers do (and the old ones are on my website anyway )
It hasn't been bothering me enough to actually make an issue of it (not that I ever complain about anything), but this thread came into existance, and it was an opportunity to mention a minor issue I have had, and to see if others have experienced the same.
I guess not.
I would definitely second Interwood's call for more tips, techniques, hints, free plans etc! I have already been contributing the the new gallery, and hope this sort of thing will continue- one thing Triton have been very good at historically, is being involved with the owners after sales have been made, with clubs, invites to demo evenings, service support, Triton Times, and this culture of involvement would be a great thing to continue. After all, it was the reason many of us got into the products in the first place, and the reason why my shed is full of orange tools!
I've always been a strong supporter of Triton, and have already been influential in more than my fair share of Workcentre sales, so I doubt that anyone would seriously question my loyalty to the company, or brand."Clear, Ease Springs"
