Default Vacuum cleaner for dust bucket?

    Hi,

Im out to look for a 2nd hand cheap vacuum cleaner tomorrow to hook up to my triton dust bucket (soon to be converted to a cyclone).....

What wattage do I need? are the 1300w cleaners strong enough?

I see from a search that a few have got the pullman AS-3......? What wattage is that?

Just after the cheapest one that will do the job....
I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like the passengers in his car.

    Hi JDub

I'm only running an old 1000 watt Sanyo with mine as a cyclone and it works fine. I don't think it really matters what you use because the filter or dust bag just doesn't get blocked running the cyclone.

The Pullman is 1400W (from memory- can check when i get home).

It's a good unit but don't pay more than $99 for it. Godfreys have it on special at that price sometimes. They are usually $199.

There are some on ebay - might be worth keeping a watch on them.

I also have one of those Shop Vac units which Bunnings sell. Pretty powerful and fine for the job but way too noisy ! That unit was around the same price with one of those small dust buster hand helds thrown in as a package.

Godfreys also have a range of reconditioned vacs which will do the job but a lot of them are the long barrel type which takes up too much space on the workshop floor.

Thanks guys, will watch those vacs on ebay and will drop into bunnings and godfreys tomorrow (both close by) and will have a poke around and see what I can find.

    Cheers

I see the last one (Pullman) sold for $65 . Add postage to ACT of $35 and it's a good deal.
