SOmething's missing here Al. You have cut and pasted this stuff from various websites. personally due to the size of the postings i would have just posted links, BUT wheres the bit where triton recommend that you dont use wd40 but use silicon?

ive searched the triton website and i cant find it. you did say you got that bit of info from triton didnt you Al??? nothing on their website that you could cut and paste here, or even a link to post???

but doug seem's to know more than the designers at triton.
(Above quote copied from this thread)http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com...t=22437&page=1

And seeing as how YOU think that i seem to know more than the designers, i take it that you will endorse my application to join them???

Al, i can understand that you choose to use silicon spray on your work in your "manufacturing" business but it would interfere with the finishes i need to achieve in my hobby

i think we have got a little over ourselfs on this one, some of you may think that we spray silicon and wd40 all over our work. lest we forget that the lubricants are used for moving parts and not for decoration. and yes doug the information did come direct from triton whilst i was doing the training in melbourne.
Web Sites, are only as good as the writer makes them and if the recomended changes have not been made then dont have a go at me. after all, every one here is an expert on wood work. one thing i have learnt out of this post is that no one reads the post's properly they just glance at them, the spelling need's to be picked up a lot, we all make spelling mistakes but some of us really need a lot of work in which to make your post make any sense.
Every one has their own ideas about what should and what should not be used, and thats. ok
but when somone ask's for advise about anything, then we all have the right to answer, it is upto the person whom is asking to take the information and do what ever it is they want to do with it.

in closing forums are great place to learn and share, so keep the post comming. and my apologies to any one that may have taken an offence to what i have posted.

    regards to all

    Al

For god's sake, do a thread search. This point has been argued to death by the finishing experts, and they are adament that using it on the equipment as a lubricant WILL result in it transferring to your work, and therefore wreck any fine finish.

Thanks Stuart , I was wondering what the heck this thread had to do with finishing , I got lost in all the BS . I think it should have been in the Triton forum.
Maybe it's just me but I feel like some of my time has been stolen after wasting it reading the original post !
