is $255 for a 9.25 triton saw a good price?
Hills Industries are clearing out all their old Triton stuff and they had these saws out for 255 bucks. They had factory seconds written on the side but the bloke said that is there just so they can be shot of them - buyer beware maybe. They had a bit of other stuff, blades from $15 for 7.5 inch and 20-25 for 9.25 inch. Also metal roof teks $40 for a box of 1800. This is from the Malaga, West Aussie branch.

If you search the forum (Hills Clearance saw) you will find they have been sold as low as $215 in Hills CC Sydney and $225 in Hills CC Melbourne (Keysborough).
Maybe if you point that out (I bought one in Keysborough myself) they might do you a better deal.
Great saw, have used it hand held, but it really shines in my WC2000. The Triton blades are excellent too, get yourself a 60tooth, the saw comes with a 40.

The Hills Clearence Centre in Brisbane(Ivedon St, Banyo) had a pallet of them for $230. There should still be at least a dozen left.
They have full warranty, and with no parts missing.
I'm not sure how they came by them seeing as Hills hasn't owned Triton now for some time.

If anyone is interested in these saws, when you go in - please don't just pay the ticketed price.
Ask them what the lowest price they'd take is if you bought it right then and there.
I'd put a bet on the likelihood of them taking less than the ticketed price.
I know this because I've done that very thing, I walked out with 2 Router Table Stands for $100 each, they had $150 marked on them.

i'm curious as to wether it's a decent saw for the price. I've had a makita for about 15 years and its still going strong. Should I buy this as a backstop for when the makita calls it quits.

They are a good saw with 2400W of power. They were designed after the Workcentre2000 so they not only fit the Workcentre the best of all saws but they were also designed to work upside-down. At the price you mentioned - buy two and sell the other on ebay and make a profit.
