Default Workcenter 2000, Buy Triton saw or stick with existing Ryobi?

    Hi All

I've had my workcenter for a number of years now and I was using it over the weekend and noticed that it is not cutting well. Am thinking it is out of alignment. I am running a 235mm Ryobi saw in it and from memory when I originally fitted it it was a nightmare to align.

So in saying that, should I have another crack at using this saw or just invest in the actual Triton 235mm for ease of configuration?

The proper saw is highly recommended.

1: The Workcentre 2000 saw base has alignment cams that fit into round holes in the saw base. These enable you to "walk" the saw into alignment with the fence (I hope you kept these when you originally built the workcentre!)
2: The Triton saw has a fine tuning lever for precisely adjusting the blade angle to get it dead on square to the fence/90 degrees to the table.
3: The lever for adjusting the blade depth is nearly 4 inches long so it reduces blindly groping for it under the table.
4: And it has a fine height adjuster with about 6mm of travel so you can precisely tweak the depth setting just by turning a knob.

I have two of these; one lives permanently in the workcentre in tablesaw mode; the other is semi permanently fitted into a 2nd workcentre in the over head mode but is regularly pulled out and used for cutting up sheet goods. Takes only seconds to pull it out and put it back again each time.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just checked and yes, I still have go all of the alignment cams.

Alternatively, I do have a Triton 184mm saw. How do the 184's go when paired with the workcenter? I'd assume the blades wouldn't come up very far through the top of the table?

The smaller saw appears to have the holes in the base for the alignment cams but doesn’t have the fine height and angle adjusters that make the 235mm saw the undisputed champion for the workcentre. What materials do you cut at the moment? The 185mm saw will cause you to lose around an inch of the cutting capacity you currently enjoy.

To be honest there aren't many times that I've had to cut something super thick.

Ideally I'd like to purchase the 235 saw however if the 185 will suffice I might give that a go for the time being.

Actually bit the bullet and purchased a Triton TSA001 235mm saw, found a great deal for $225 delivered, couldn't pass it up.

Have set it all up, much easier to get the alignment spot on

Can I ask where you bought the saw from? Was it brand new? I've been trying to track one of these down for a while.

Hey mate. I bought it from Beyond Tools in Perth, however doesn't look like they have stock anymore. Might be worth a call though.

    Good luck.
