    Default Workcentre height winder

    Hi all
I've finished assembling and aligning my workcentre (thanks to everyone who gave advice) but I'm a little concerned about the lead screw in the height winder. It doesn't look terribly robust considering the weight it has to support.
Has anyone had one break or wear out? What sort of service life can I expect?
    Thanks
    Rob

Never heard of one failing, never had one wear out.

Remember, the weight it is supporting is quite a bit less than even the full weight of the circular saw. At a guess, because of the lever action of the brackets, it will be at worst, 1/3 the weight of the saw.

Even so, it's pretty strong - it would handle the full weight.

Never had a problem with mine either.
If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Same for me - this is imo the best accessory for your Triton.

Default What can go wrong with a height winder

    Rob,

If you want to break your height winder, keep winding it after it has reached its full travel range.

    Otherwise it should be fine.

The internal, female thread is the weakest link, and from my experience, (of servicing the products) they only break when forced. I did this myeslf once while demonstrating. I had lowered the saw using its height adjustment lever for some reason. Then, later in the demonstration, with the saw still lowered and the chassis at full height, tried to raise the saw.

Managed to tie the chassis at full height with a couple of cable ties till I could replace the part.

It was hard to break, but I managed it.
