Angry #20/20 1/2 question for Dark Siders - is this fair?

If, after having dropped your pre 1920 baby and f$#$ed the frog, and then you saw a "Frog for Stanley 20/20 1/2 as new unused" for US$79.95+$15 shipping, from a certain dealer on the west coast, would you order it lickety split?

OK, would you then be freaked out that only the wee thin piece that the lever cap attaches to arrives, ie sans the piece that dovetails to the sole? Would this not be part of the frog, not the whole thing? What would you call the dovetail piece, if it's not the frog

BTW I had asked to see a pic to check the condition, and was told that it was 'as described'. I can get my $79.95 back, but not the P&P.

Not happy. Am I wrong in thinking that the frog is the whole assembly?

    Gidday TassieKiwi?

Any chance of some Pics????..........Frogs can differ depending on the make/type of the handplane. Typically the Frog is seated in the Sole of the Handplane and acts as a bed seating the cutting iron; cap iron & lever cap.
Typically (But not always) the frog incorporates the depth adjusting nut but in the case of the 20/20 1/2 ............................frankly I have no idea

Often a Pic tells a thousand words.........even if you can find some other pics of a 20/20 1/2 so that you can compare!!!

Sorry can't help to much on this one...............................You need one more powerful in the Dark Side of the force!........... Darth Cohen!

    ...............Where are you DEREK!!!!!

Ta. Pics soon, as I will have to repair it now. Dealer agreed to go halves with his shipping, for the 'misunderstanding' - still cost me $23 for nothing.

The #20 has a thin casting that sits under the cutter - this has the depth wheel and lateral adjuster on it and is in turn attached to the main body of the frog with a screw. (This is what was sent to me). The body of the frog has a tail that dovetails to the sole's pin, as it were.

Maybe a picture is a good idea. My head hurts......

I was going to respond earlier, but decided to be agood boy, , and wait for the serious answers.

However, I can't help but feel I would be embarrassed to mention I had an 85 year old with an amphibian fetish in the family. I haven't even contemplating asking what you were doing to the said 85 yr old to cause you to drop him/her.

I admire your courage, perhaps a quick call to AA (Amphibians anonymous) would help.

    Default Mission accomplished

Pre heated and brazed - cooled in lime. Not as pretty, but still a user and a nice plane saved from the shelf. So you can fix CI! Best not to drop'em though.

I have covered the floor with 20mm conveyor belting, which is nice to work on anyway. Max dropped the#4 - happily bounced.
