Hi Ray. That's great news. A couple of new backsaw builds is the next thing on my own agenda.

Happy New Year to the fellow Hand Tool contributors.
I too am looking to do some more back saws this year.
I have just acquired a retoother which I'm hoping should get me more even teeth and save me some money in saw files!

Hmm, sounds good, HR, but you still have to sharpen, and the lousy files we get now don't make that task easy!
If I'm having a good day, & the light is favorable & I have a good file, forming a set of reasonably good teeth is not too challenging, but cr*p files make the job unnecessarily difficult! I bought a box of Pferd files a few months back, on the basis they were among the best of the bad lot of new files we tested in 2013. The whole damn boxful of them are way too brittle, & I'm using up a whole file toothing a 12 inch saw! The worst part of brittle files is that as the teeth break off, they catch and stick and it is impossible to keep your strokes even and consistent.
'Least that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it....

Here's a special tidbit that you can impress your clever friends with this year...
2015 in binary ( 11111011111 ) is a palindrome.
Every time you make a typo, the errorists win.

Hi Rob. I guess my stash of old stock Nicholson taper files; rust free and in their original boxes; should continue to increase in value.
