Except for the pink one, all these really need is w&D paper with WD40 or White Spirit or kero or something and a cork or rubber block, to clean the blades. They will come up a treat, if you are OCD you could use a soft wire brush on the struck logos. Just avoid any dubbing of the edge.
cheers

The rectangular blade neck was the give away. Common on James Howath and early Sorby's and other English makes. The 2nd Titan looks to have a ring-in handle. The red paint on the Berg will probably clean off with Jiff. I use it to get paint, usually tech school colour coding (or don't pinch me paint markings) off old Titans. Comes up a treat. Rub carefully down to the acetate coating.

[QUOTE=Doggie;1643347]Yep, the second handle is one I did but I needed to redo it. The original was a wreck.
I have already sanded off the red paint.
I need to do 2 other handles as they are wrecked as well.
First I need to work out the trick to getting the chisel into the handle.

I think it is a tang chisel. Derek has written about this I am sure.
Here's a mortice chisel ... but I think there are more examples (?) ... REHANDLING AN OVAL BOLSTERED MORTICE CHISEL

Interesting that you said Howarth ... he was in business with a Henry Taylor ... but I know there were a lot of different Taylors around then.

I was up all night trying to recover someones files from a pc.
Final year paper for a uni student due today.
Sorry, maybe by monday...
So I was busy sanding all night.
This is what they look like today.
I tried for a better print of the strange one, so I'll clean it a bit more and take a picture in the sunshine.
Number 2 in this picture may need new handle as well as the colar is going a bit far down into the handle. We'll see

OK Gave it a bit more of a clean.
top line is @@RESTON@
bottom seems something like @AARG.
The logo in front almost looks like rams horns.
Does any of that help??

I sort of got to Preston as well but have been looking for a chisel logo picture.
The part underneath only looks like 5 Characters.
Did they use B'ham because in full it wouldn't fit.
Like to find a picture of the right handle seeing I'm making a few and remove the titan one.
