Well I'll be darned, Paul. I bought the hardcover book, back in 1980 or thereabouts. Cost US$45, which would be at least $150 in today's $$s - now it's free! It's a very useful reference if you are interested in American colonial era furniture, they give dimensions & some notes on the construction of the pieces, so if you have a vague idea of what you are doing, it's possible to produce pretty reasonable facsimiles. In those pre-internet days, information was not so easy to come by. These were made largely from the book with some help from other sources: Table rosewood a red.jpg

The table is a scaled-down version combining features of a couple of different tables, but the chair is pretty close to one of the examples in the book. I found the pics of the stripped-down chairs very helpful!

Thanks for the tip Paul. I will be spending 4 weeks in NY in a few months, staying with son in Manhattan, and am looking forward to spending quite a bit of time in the Met, including studying the furniture (which I will now be studying before I go).
Cheers

Better thank Glen Huey, I think.
Doggie - not sure how you got a message about passengers?
The download should just be a pdf.
Sometimes there can be false positives on virus signatures ... ?
Did you see in the comments ... this search suggested for other possible pdfs ...

No comments as above, just that two Trojans had been picked up immediately the download finished. No sweat though the trend micro nabbed them straight away and no after effects detected. Could be a coincidence though as my wife and myself share an account and she does all the emails. I only download stuff like the MOMA book.
