Just caught the end of that bit I'll have to watch it tomorrow on 7Mate.

SWMBO made the comment that she would sell whatever she likes, "What's it mater if you're (me) dead?" Little hope at the moment of my little bloke getting his Dad's stuff if something happens to me tomorrow. So look out in the garage sale notices.

I like your other half's chutzpah, Waldo! I think she's got a good point - & in fact wouldn't you rather see your tools go to someone who will cherish & use them, than sit rusting in a backroom because your offspring feels obliged to hang onto them out of some sense of duty?

I started putting together a 'good' tolbox for my own son when he was a wee lad. At first he showed great interest, and used them a lot (to make weapons of war) but by the age of 10, they became un-cool. Nevertheless, I kept collecting, in the hope he would rediscover the pleasure of making sawdust, but he's well past 30 now, & little sign of a renaissance.....

So I reckon my other half will be advertising TWO sets........

Don't give up hope just yet!

I had no interest for 38 years until I needed something to sit the drier on and I made a stand out of framing timber with a ply top. I opened my Dad's toolbox to get a saw out and it was like the wood bug bit and bit hard!

Your son may well come back into the mix.............maybe.

American Pickers, I do like some of the stuff they find.

I didn't start until my 40's. And I've already started identifying tools to leave my kids...

Spot on

My son is a "chipee" and I have told him that when I kick the bucket he has first pick of my stuff, then my brothers. All the rest can go to a car boot sale. I hope he keeps the stuff I picked up from my dad and uncles but at the end of the day, these tools are only special to me .
