Anorak Bob's hand plane build
For those interested in hand planes Anorak Bob has just finished a neat looking build on the metal work forum.

I've had the opportunity to look at and hold that plane and it is indeed a little beauty. Bob's metal work is something to aspire to. Makes mine look even more "agricultural" than it is.

Nice job of work, alright. Anorak Bob is being very modest about it, but it's a pretty damn good facsimile of an A50! Who'd have thought that 'ol chunk of iron was hiding a sleek little number like that?
I'd sure love to have access to the sort of gear used to make that plane at times, but take heart all you would-be plane builders, it's quite possible to make a plane that looks pretty good & works as well as any with very basic tools, as the participants in "The Great Plane Challenge" are amply demonstrating atm.
You can do it in under 10 years, too!
