Anyone know what this saw was used for?
It belonged to my wife's father, who passed away a year ago. Now it belongs to me and I'm not sure what it's used for. It has a Warranted Superior medallion, the blade measures about 23", 11 PPI, and the top is marked "RELIANCE 4".
Thanks.

It looks to me like there is stuff around the pin at the handle end that reminds me of what I see on tree pruning saws. I don't know if it was intended as such or not, but I think this particular saw was used for tree trimming.

I reckon it's a meat saw.
If you find you have dug yourself a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging.
I just finished child-proofing our house - but they still get inside.

Yes, a meat saw. And they are still available, or were up til last year.
In actual fact, it should be called a 'bone saw' 'cos that's what you actually use them for - 'meat' just clags up the teeth, and is far better cut with a knife. And 'real' teeth take the shine off the teeth real quick, too..
Cheers,IW
