ANZAC Day and Woodworking.
Not the sort of association that we are familiar with, but it stands to reason that all sorts of tools other than tools of war, made their way to the front lines in past conflicts.
I was struck by this image published by the ABC News online site around Anzac Day.
I'll call it the Gallipoli Saw.
Is it a Disston?
Wonderful image none-the-less.
I bet it wasn't evacuated along with the soldiers at the end of the campaign.
Perhaps some Turkish family is still using it.
Cheers

Very observant SG!
It has that Disston #7 look ... but given the year and the Empire connections ... I'm thinking one of the british-style saws ... Spear & Jackson maybe? (Tyzack? Groves, Greaves, ...)

Somewhat related, I heard farmers in Belgium are still digging up some amazing quantity of bombs ... 250 tonnes per year or something ... bumping into them with ploughs or combines!
Cheers,
Paul

Good one Mr Scribble, nicely spotted!...
The etch is a bit hard to read in that picture but if forced to guess, I'd be guessing Spear & Jackson,
I know that they supplied the British Army with at least some saws.. Likely to have been made as a special order to MOD specifications.

If you were really keen you could jump onto the national archives and take a look around, the archives are nice to dig into.
I drove past your place today... wish I had the foresight to pm you and see if I could drop in and say 'G'day'.

I missed that Paul.
I will look it out.
The terrain at Gallipoli is intimidating.
They could have walked past each other without seeing on that first day.
I took this picture in 2011

I have started watching it - I think I didn't have good enough internet connection back then.
It takes graphically you through the first day in small steps ... bloody good job there.
