Aussie plane socks?
Hi,
I was looking for a plane sock to wrap around a renovated handplane I am giving a friend for his birthday. Being a second hand plane, I didn't want to use a Veritas/LN plane sock in case I raised his expectations .
I seem to recall someone in Oz was making these but can't seem to find their details, can anyone help with this query?
cheers

P.S. Apologies for the cross posting...

You need two. The presentation sock is a trade from some brickie = old work sock but clean (is that possible?)
The "keeper" could be something nicer like frilly knickers.

Couldn't send pic on PM so here they are.
Cheers

Slightly more serious that some of the previous, but in the same vein:
Is he a sports fan type? Follow a particular team? A trip to the local OpShop, Vinnies or Sallies may allow you to get a used pair of appropriate team coloured football socks - just cut off the feet & sew up the cut end - French seam or a strip of cloth sewn over the resulting seam is getting pretty deluxe.
If he is not a team fan, then an old pair of 'Explorer' or similar thick socks could be re-purposed. If you think the socks are a bit thin then just sew one sock inside the other.

My washing machine gets hungry from time to time and eats socks. Just one per pair.
Nice supply of covers for my spoke shaves.
The heel is just right for the central, knobby part of each s/s.
