Do you mean a bearing spliter for which most of the time I slice them off with a 4" grinder if they are accessable or a bearing puller which are available at most machinery/engineering/tool shops. If you by a bearing/gear puller, try and find at least a 3 leg or a 4 leg if you can. The more legs the less chance of them slipping off. You can still usually use both as a 2 leg if you need too.

G'day Claw,
I have a gear puller but can't get the arms underneath the bearing, angle grinder may be a little too hard to get close enough to the actual bearing. I will look at an engineering shop.
Thanks,
Tony

You may be able to drill down into the bearing to just before the shaft, place a heavy metal lump under the bearing, fully support it, place the edge of the cold chisel over the hole that you have drilled and hit the thing with a big hammer.
Just make sure the bearing and shaft are fully supported and the energy is not transferred to the bearing housing.
Very rough and ready but works well if properly supported and done with a deft touch.
take care
Kevin
