Dear Rob,
I think the suggested location is perfect! Central logistics and wooddorking hub (the fact it is very close to me is secondary of course).
Oh, and btw, it's (+) 35 deg here today.

Many thanks Rob
OK, so the final upshot is around AUD$51 per clamp, landed, with a 20% allowance for GST and duties and clearance fees etc - or around $200 per set of 4 with blocks. Less than half Aussie retail.
BUT, there's a wait until something like the end of April until they get here I guess.

I'm ok with the wait time.
Put me down for 2 X "B" sets.
I live in Traralgon, VIC but am happy to pick up from Melbourne.
Cheers,
Alex.

I've spoken to the logistics manager here and have a plan to sort out freight forwarding, customs clearance etc. Still confirming the duty to be expected, but it's generally 2-5%. Can be other charges, including documentation, clearance etc., and exchange rates can vary, so we won't have an exact figure until it's all landed & delivered, but the $200 per set should be pretty close to the mark.
Payment needs to be sorted out of course. I'm not going to stump up for the whole lot myself and make nothing out of it obviously Hopefully though we can pay for the order when it's ready to ship in March, so anyone who wants in would need to send their part of the money to me shortly before I need to pay for the order - but we can work that out case by case as needed.
Sooo, if you can wait until April sometime and you want a bargain on some great cabinet clamps, then probably best to PM me with your order, name, address & phone number and I'll start collating it all and working out the total order. Obviously add in anything you want to order besides the clamps as well. The Australian Woodworkers Database - over 3,500 Aussie Woods listed: http://www.aussiewoods.info/

I already own a set of these clamps, bought some years ago in the US, and brought back with me when I returned to live in Australia; two of my clamps are about 1250 mm long, about 250 mm longer than the largest in the B set. Maybe, if a bulk shipment is being arranged, a suitable price could be negotiated for these longer clamps also.
Just a suggestion, I do not need any more clamps myself.

I am still thinking but I would like to thank Darryl for his effort. You’re the man.

So what's so great about these Bessey clamps anyway?
I'm not bagging them, just curious.

Firstly, the Bessey clamp has an excellent reputation amongst woodworkers worldwide and is reputedly "the best".
Why? Well, here are some of the reasons:
- large, flat, faces.
- reversible and can be used as a spreader.
- they do not slip, tilt or twist.
- easy to set with one hand (lots of one-handed WWs apparently)
- they clamp 'square' due to their design, making glue-ups a much easier task.
- they allow a lot of pressure to be applied, or a little, as desired.
- they can sit upright by themselves
- there is a removeable hook at the end of the bar that allows it to be hung
- the flat head allows you to glue a panel then stand them upright out of the way next to a wall etc.
- glue resistant polyamid clad jaws don't mark the workpiece.
- the feet that come with them make it easy to clamp panels etc.
That enough?
Cheers,
