Good point In the comments on the order put something like 'Australian WW Bulletin Board Order'.

Also, to work out your part of the freight costs:
Take your A$ order total (ex freight), add approx. $40 for freight, customs fees & local delivery of the main order, then add 15% to the total for import duty and GST. Should be roughly right.

OK, to set things rolling I have placed my order. When you checkout there is an "Additional Order Notes" field. In that field I have entered:

"Please note: This is part of the Australian WoodWork Forums Bulletin Board Order for bulk delivery.
    Reference: Rob Lee."

Then clicked on "Ship to this Address" (mine) so they can label *my* boxes.

Don't forget to request your cattledogs while your there

(For anyone between Sale and Melbourne who is wondering how they can get in on this - I will be travelling that route on a weekly basis and could deliver if you wish.)

    Squizzy,

I didn't say I would not like to have more clamps; I just don't think I can justify buying any more K-body ones. Once you have four of them, you should be able to manage with cheaper ones as auxiliaries.

Do the sums on some of Lee Valley's other clamps as well - might be worthwhile. The Bessey UniKlamps are nice too - and cheaper. I have a few of those. They have some nice Jorgenson pipe clamps for US$12 each, lots of nice stuff

Go on, you know you want to

I did the same as Groggy added info re group buy as additional notes .... however they don't show up anywhere on the email or view order status so i hope it worked.

Is it worth sending Darryl the order numbers to match to the requests he has down, so he knows who has ordered etc?
If so I'm order no. 12224460
If not ... well too late

Thanks Dave, I'll just contact Lee Valley and notify them of the new delivery address shall I?

    Thumbs up

I do not think Lee Valley is the cheapest place to buy these clamps. Here in California our local national home center sells them for less. I will post some other sites you might want to check out. Do any of you know about Gross clamps? They are an older company and make better clamps. The people that started Bessy worked for Gross and coppied them. Gross uses better steel and their plastic heads can be replaced if heaven forbid you drop them. Bessy heads can not be replaced. I have both and will never buy Bessy again. We have a dealer here in California that does the trade shows. He has great prices. 20% cheaper than Bessy. I will post the address in the morning. In the mean time look the clamps up on the web if you do not know about them. Sea mail is the cheapest way to send them. If you let me know how many you are ordering I will ask him what price he will give me on case lots of Gross. I will see him the 3rd of Jan. 05 at the next big tool show here. We always have lunch together when he comes to town. If you like his price you can pay him direct. I am not looking to make a buck. No I do not get a kick back. Catch you in the AM Richard

With his rep to protect I'm sure Rob and his people would verify the details to ensure they were talking to the correct person.

In the mean time look the clamps up on the web if you do not know about them.
    Found this on the web:

I build custom cabinets and furniture for a living, just for reference. I ordered the Gross Stabil clamps looking for a larger clamping surface, increased travel and quicker action. According to Fine Woodworking, the Gross Stabil PC Squared matched those criteria. The clamps worked well, for a short while. The problem seems to be in the connection between the clamping head and the handle/acme screw. There is a washer that is used to engage the items being clamped, twist too hard, which wasn't too hard at all, and the washer slips off the acme screw when the clamp is released. Since the washer is cold-headed into place, there is no way to re-attach it, therefore rendering the clamp useless. The first time it happened I thought it was a fluke, four clamps later told me it wasn't. I've returned to the Bessey and Jorgensen parallel clamps, prefering the Bessey, though the Jorgensen is a close second because of some flimsy materials/assembly.

Just jumped on the "Please note: This is part of the Australian WoodWork Forums Bulletin Board Order for bulk delivery. Reference: Rob Lee" bandwagon with my order, and got sucked into buying a few more things from my wishlist while I was at it! Now I'm planning to give SWMBO a candlelit dinner before breaking the news!
    Cheers

Anyone who wants to read a good review on clamps pick up the October 2004 Fine Woodworking. They rated the Bessey K-Body as the best in it's class. Gross Stabil also rated fairly well in their tests.

I have also jumped on the "Please note: This is part of the Australian WoodWork Forums Bulletin Board Order for bulk delivery. Reference: Rob Lee" bandwagon and have altered my previous order so that they come with the bulk order.

I am trying now to work out what further stuff I can get with the savings!
