Darryl, I like to look at Dean's reviews and the FWW et al, but when it comes down to it, the users themselves give the best feedback in forums such as this. Reviewers typically test brand new equipment, users tend to comment after a bit more lovin' has been dealt out.

Clamps being what they are, sturdiness over their lifetime means a lot. We've all bought those cheap clamps and found out too late that they creep. Pony clamps are a good example I guess, they start out ok and seem to stay that way. Besseys dont change either, or Jorgies. Cheap clamps change, and the once off reviews don't pick that up. The reviews are well worth reading but we usually miss the longevity aspects.

    Just an observation.

SWMBO allowed the purchase, so I just put my order in for a "B" pack, with the "Please note: This is part of the Australian WoodWork Forums Bulletin Board Order for bulk delivery. Reference: Rob Lee" attachment in the special instructions. Sure hope this works. What a bargain

    Hi -

Before we get to far into this - I'm headed over to customer service right now, and we'll set up a contact here to handle co-ordination of this at our end...and will have the procedure "clarified", and posted here....

We'll pick and pack each order individually, and skid them...

We won't know the actual freight until we go to ship - and will bill for the orders a day or two before they ship (in case there's a credit card authorization problem). We'll be able to supply Darryl with the individual weights/piece count of each order, so you can figure out how to split the freight up.

    More later!

    Cheers -

    Rob

    Default Ordering Information...

    Australian Order Consolidation Guidelines

    Dates of Interest
    · Last day of sale price on Bessey Clamp Sets: January 29, 2005
    · Last day to place or modify an order: March 18, 2005 *
    · Orders will be processed and charged: March 21, 2005
    · Container will ship from Ottawa: March 28, 2005
    · Container delivery to Australia: Week of May 9, 2005 (approx.)

    * - All Bessey clamps MUST be ordered by Jan 29 – you can add to your order until March 18th, if you are ordering other products as well

    How to place an order

All orders should be placed through our Web site as you usually would. You will find the “Additional Order Notes” field on the Billing Information Page in the checkout. Please include the following message:

This is part of the Australian WoodWork Forums Bulletin Board Order for bulk delivery. Reference: Rob Lee.

If you need assistance, please contact our E-commerce Department at [email protected].

You will receive an email confirmation that your order has been added to the Australian bulk delivery.

Please note: Although we will try our best to fill all backordered items, anything not in stock on Mar 18 will be cancelled from the order and we will advise you of this by email.

    Arrival in Australia

You will be advised when the container has arrived in Australia.

    Delivery within Australia

The main shipment will be delivered to a warehouse in Sydney. From there local pickup can be arranged case by case from the Sydney and Central Coast areas.
Deliveries for customers in Victoria will be bulk shipped to a central pickup point (one of those ordering) in the Melbourne area. Details to be confirmed.
Deliveries outside the main pickup points will be at cost via the most cost effective shipping method - to be arranged on an individual basis.

    Payment

Lee Valley will take payment for merchandise and shipping from Ottawa to Australia. This will be processed on March 21. The shipping amount will be dependent on the number of orders received and the total weight of the bulk order. Your shipping costs from Ottawa will be directly proportional to the weight of the items in your order.

In addition to the sea freight charges, there will be costs associated with Australian Customs clearance, duties, GST and local delivery. These charges will need to be paid through Darryl and he will contact you with details. Please PM Darryl directly for an estimate.

    Personal Information
Your name, address, phone number, and order details will be shared with Darryl. This is necessary to make delivery arrangements.

    Thanks Rob

One of the key points is that Lee Valley will be charging each of you individually for the sea freight portion of the shipping costs according to the size of your order (based on weight). A huge thankyou from me for this - should save me some work

The Australian costs I'll still need to handle - customs clearance fee, local delivery, duty & GST - so you'll need to pay through me for those. We'll get the details sorted out close to the ship date, but in the mean time an estimate of A$15-20 per order for clearance & local freight + 12-15% of the total for duty & GST is reasonably close. That's based on 15 orders. So far Lee Valley have 8 orders in their system.

Couple suggestions for things besides the clamps where the sea freight makes it worthwhile:
Estwing hammers - US$21.95 from Lee Valley, 2-3+ times that here.
They have a nice deadblow hammer as well
Glues - can only be shipped surface freight
    They have some nice straightedges
    Mitre slot & t-slot extrusions

    I feel much better .

Given that she is a Lee Valley 'E-Commerce Fulfillment Representative' I think this could be the start of a beautiful friendship

Rob, thank you for this opportunity. It is a great chance to jump in with other orders too. I noted the well baited hook - we have almost two months to "order other products"!

I noted the release of information statement and I agree to mine being released to Darryl. (It should be noted that the state reps will likely see the details also as they will be onforwarding too).

I guess it's time to revisit your website - again.

Darryl, thanks for your efforts to date also.

    Default Another victim

OK I am in. My recent success in real estate allows me to indulge a little. Just ordered 2 “B” pack and some bits and pieces.

Geez, that website has specially power. 3 orders in less than 6 months. Stay away from it folks.

    Silent,

C’mon get some. It does not cost anything. My bank sent me this little plastic card. When I need to buy something, all I need to do is give them the card number and my autograph. It is easier than you think.

Thanks to both Rob and Darryl for their efforts, and to the yet to be appointed Victorian distributor.
