Tools vary from nil to 5% as far as I can see.
It's a curious thing.... cars are even more curious, the Customs boys can put their own value on the vehicle for duty and GST purposes! (and you don't want to go near boats, which even if you sail them here on their own bottom, have an assessment made on your living expenses while you were aboard so that can be added to the value as "cost of import" for the purposes of duty and GST!!
What exactly is FREE TRADE?
Cheers,

I fear perhaps Rocker has fallen into the abyss. His tools are sharp, his designs, clear, concise and well laid out. The shame is he no longer wishes to make anything these days.
His fear is the chisels will dull, the router get dusty and his CAD drawn plans may get a little sawdust on them. OOHHHH THE SHAME.
Pity him, it's not his fault, it's a peril which we all face, we can only hope we have the strength to make a heap of noise, sawdust and blunt plane blades in the course of our life.Boring signature time again!

Outback,
Actually, I have made three significant pieces of furniture in the past six months, two CD cabinets, and a MajorPanic-style hall table. My main problem now is that I have no more room in the house for furniture, so I have to send batches to England periodically to clear the decks.
I have to apologise for the way this thread has got hijacked. I had no inkling that my innocent admission that I had enough clamps would cause so much outrage, alarm, and despondency.

Heck, all I've managed is a shooting board, Derek Cohen style, a couple of your jigs, a CD rack and half a largish wine cabinet which I have had to half pull apart due to technical difficulties.Surely there is some room closer than England in which you can place your stuff?

Only 4 days left kids. Hurry up or you’ll be sorry.
If you think you don’t need more clamps then I have a solution for you. “Throw away 4 clamps tonight.”

Bessey Clamps
Well, you all have sucked me in too . I have ordered 2 'B' sets also.
One question though to Rob Lee if he is watching - In your post giving all the details you say anything not in stock on March 18th will be removed from the order. However the clamps will not be in stock until April ????
Am I missing something here?
Mick.

Rob Lee monitors this board, and took an active role in making it happen and as a result made a few more sales of a product which is heavily discounted.
Isn't it a great shame that our local suppliers don't do the same, that they are quite willing to wait until the work has been done, then offer to match?? Or in the case of some, watch interminable complaints about their businesses and do nothing!!
Businesses from Canada and Germany have fixed complaints in the last year, pity about the deafening silence from some locals!! (not Northwood)
I have no axe to grind with Northwood and have a few things to buy from them in the coming weeks, just make the point that a week ago, things could have been different.
Cheers,
P (who thought long and hard before buying offshore, but on the strength of the service received on every purchase offshore would do it again more regularly  )

DPB, I've read your posts and tend to agree. The main difference though is that Lee Valley took the initiative and followed through.
If Northwood got involved in the woodworking groups, identified a need, then filled it like LV have, then perhaps they'd be selling to Canadians.
As for the bottom line being better from Northwood, perhaps, but we only have that on hearsay after the other deal has gone through.
