    Default bessey clamps

    I have a number of bessey F clamps with the red timber handles of various sizes that were relatively expensive. Quite a few of these clamps slip under tension and tend to slip at the most inappropriate times like when routing dadoes or trenches. Is bessey as good as they make them out to be? What do other woodworkers use to hold their jigs while routing to ensure that nothing slips? I haven't had any disasters happen due to clamps slipping but only because i am constantly checking the clamps and there is a couple that i use constantly which i havn't had problems with. Are some of the other brands more reliable? Thanks

    Bessey make 2 ranges of F clamps. The slightly more exxy ones have a grub/set screw set into the rear of the lower jaw. Never had one of them slip. The ones I had without the set screw I sold and have had no further problems with them.

    Thanks for the reply. Maybe i need to get rid of mine or just use them for glue ups when not too much tension is needed. I am wondering if i have damaged them by overtightening.

    I have quite a few bessys and haven't had any trouble with them, for the price you pay for them I would be taking them back if I did have trouble.
