Thread: The Great Bessy Clamp Order 2007
-
5th August 2007, 11:29 AM #136
Nice idea Eli, but am not in this to profit, I have clamps on the order too, plus I get to help out, this is all that's required for me.
The only reason I mentioned it was to share the experience a bit along the way so that anyone wanting to do a grate clamp order in the future has a better appreciation of what is involved
Ciao,
M.

Not to hijack the thread but I was thinking of adding a few of the bessey welding clamps to my original order until a builder got me on to Trade Tools Direct clamps. He had a couple of these that looked exactly like the bessey welding clamps but very cheap. Yesterday I bought two 300mm clamps for a trial and they were only $24 each. They had huge welding clamps there that would cost a over a hundred if they were bessey but were only $50. Anyone else have experience with these?

I have just done a quick look at the site. There is nothing there that is like a K clamp. For comparison I looked at an 8" planer. It was not cheap.
If someone can show me where to buy K clamps that are the same quality as Bessey and half the price, then I will switch. Otherwise I will rather stick to a known factor.

G'day Derek,
My comment was specifically for the welding clamps. I have a large amount of the TG series bessey clamps and use them professionally on a daily basis and have been happy with them except for the fact that they will undo if subject to vibration. ( you can watch the handle turn with a RO on the timber!) The bessey welding clamps will not do this but they are so bloody expensive. I posted this as there may be some others out here who want a cheaper solution to the welding clamp. Here's the link to the ones I bought.

I agree that there is nothing out there like a K clamp.

We have clamp Prices!!!!
All,
Based on the numbers I collected, we now have prices and a winning supplier! Colin has again come in with the best price after everything was taken into account This is a little complex so please read all of this message!
The prices for your project include shipping to defined pickup points in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin provided there is a minimum of $300 clamps for that location. Regional areas will have to contribute to the shipping cost as it is higher. Note I have included Perth and Darwin for simplicity sake. Hobart would be OK too if at least $300 in clamp orders, but no other Tassie cities .
Individual orders ship direct to customers at this stage is not an option unless there is a lot of interest - as you can imaging the amount of paperwork, time in getting shipping quotes etc is a lot and there isin't the margin for Colin to do this sort of thing!
Payment will be directly to Colin with numbers also sent by everyone to me also so I can chase up where needed - there are a couple of transaction costs that must be added to your order amount when you are calculating up your order
* All orders will incur a 2.75% fee for credit card payments, direct deposit and cheque incurs no fee.
* All orders will incur a $5.50 administration fee. All orders must have the buyers full details, even though we will be doing a bulk delivery, for warranty and payment receipt Colin must have this DO NOT POST YOUR FULL NAME AND ADDRESS HERE, ONLY THE NUMBER AND TYPE OF CLAMPS AND PICK UP POINT I.E. SYD/MELB ETC!!!
* All prices include GST.
All prices are based on the numbers that you all have provided as tentative, less may incur a price review, additional K-Body will not get a better price, but extra numbers of fringe clamps (i.,e. non K-Body) may help with fringe clamps prices.
Clamp Price
K30 45.10
K60 49.13
K100 68.44
K125 72.93
K150 81.11
KP 39.63
UK30 29.44
UK60 31.21
KLi12 30.00
KLi16 30.68
KLi20 31.29
TPN80 62.04
TG25K 28.18
TG30K 29.79
TG40K 37.78
TG60K 46.07
KT5-1CP 16.23
DUO65-8 22.48
Notes:
* TG series are not Tommy Bar version
* TPN80 is not currently listed on the Northwood web site but is normally around $70.00
* These prices are based on delivery within two weeks in all cases except K-150 where there is a small shortfall. They will be about 10 – 12 weeks - this is due to them having to come from the factory in Germany!!! This may also be the case if between now and culmination of placing order, Colin runs low on other clamps too. Those that are short (about 25 K150 at this stage) will be shipped when available at our cost to the delivery points. No minimum applies to back-orders.
Now, please if you have any questions or queries, please post these to this thread as I will be the contact point for queries so I can total them up and save Colin some time in prcessing this order - he is not making much margin on this job as you can all imagine.
So all that's left is to post your orders!!! These will be FIRM numbers!!! I'm expecting to close off the order period and to have all people paid up in just over a month (i.e. Close of business 7-Sept-2007! This should give everyone time to get their orders in and paid for
Ciao,
M.
P.S. Those of you who have already volunteered I'll be in contact with you shortly to firm up procedures etc.

Hi Martin,
in your notes you mention the TG series is not the tommy bar clamp yet the product codes you have next to the prices are the tommy bar codes. Can you please confirm if the tommy bar clamps are available.

Hey AD,
I'm not too sure about the tommy bar handle, remember that these clamps are the ones from europe and not the american variants. I've just looked these up on the german web site and TGK seems to still be the wood handles (http://www.bessey.de/catalogue/catal...older=clamping)
I'll whack it on the list to chase up though never the less,
Ta,
M.

Clarifying Martin's message
My message to Martin contained a couple of typos perhaps I should clarify..
The TG series are the units with tommy bars
The backorder K150 DO NOT incur any extra delivery costs, they will be sent to the delivery points at no cost when they arrive, some 10 - 12 weeks later.
Hope this helps clear up these issues.
Martin has done a stirling job for you guys, and has done a lot of work behind the scenes. Congrats Martin, but now the real work begins. . .
Please everyone contact through Martin as he has his finger on the pulse.

WHile I'm rapt with my Bessey DuoKlamps anyone considering buying them should know they are manufactured in China. I've bought 12 of the 300mm model (30-8) so far and 2 have failed (the reversing dial seems to displace itself). I've returned them to the retailer and they have exchanged them NQA. I also have 4 of the 650mm model. Also manufactured in China but none have failed. I've had them almost 12 months. The ones that failed did so soon after I bought them. Another failed today. But, they are very good one handed clamps and the failures haven't put me off.
CheersIf you never made a mistake, you never made anything!
