Question bevel or angle gauge - comments pls

I've been thinking of getting a bevel gauge or bevel setter. Mainly because it is something I think I'd get a fair bit of use out of.

anybody got any opinion about these two. ie do you own one and does it do what you want accurately.

the veritas sold by carbatec or the bevel boss sold by Chris Vesper

    thanks
    regards

I have the Veritas. It is beautifully made. I have only seen pictures of the one from Chris Vesper, and I note that it does not have the Veritas' fence. The fence allows you to set repeatable angles.

Not also that these gauges are for complementary angles. It is not a protractor.

Like Derek I have the Veritas

However, whilst the fence makes it relatively easy to set a sliding bevel to a particular angle, I don't consider it essential and IMO it serves no purpose if you're using the gauge to read an existing angle.

If I were choosing between the two, I'd decide on the basis of how useful I found the other markings on the tool

I feel that they are both great tools and I have both. One for home one for at work.
The Bevel Boss has markings to 1/4° while the Veritas reads to the nearest 1/2°.
    Both work very well.
If I had to keep just one it would be the Bevel Boss only because it is a simpler tool to use and I don't have to faff around with the fence.
    All the best
    Kevin
