    Default A great book

My in-laws had a reno done a while ago and I remember looking at the framing and thinking 'cripes, this is made like a jewellery box!' ... Well the carpenter Andy Jenner has just published a book that is really fascinating 'the building of the queensland house'.

It's a great read for we dark siders, going not just over history, design and building methods but the hand tools the craftsmen (sic.) employed.

I only picked up a copy yesterday so I can't give a thorough review but on an initial skim it's super and it's great to have such an important piece of Australia's social history presented by a true craftsman.

    Cheers
    Matt

Looks like a great book Matt, so went looking for it on line.

Only two references - both the National Library website, though it looks like its in the Queensland and National libraries. As best I can tell it's not on sale yet

Hanging out to see your review now

    Cheers

Yeah, it's pretty fresh. This copy came from the book launch at the Black Cat Books on latrobe tce. I can't find it on their data base but they do have it.

He seems like a proper hand tool person. It would be great to have him on the forum but i think he's more of a long hand letter, carrier pigeon sort of communicator
