    Great article , have been thinking of putting a shooting board together ,your article will help immensely, just been busy re-habing some old chisels .

    My old woodworking teacher taught us to chamfer both corners. The far end to minimise tearout as you point out but also the close end. He said this reduced the sudden impact of the blade on the end grain.
