    Default Boy am I happy!

This is just what I always wanted. Perfect condition around 1950's No 7. I "obtained" this plane direct from the dark sidedness himself. I thought I was going to have to pry it out of his cold dead claws but then I showed him my jarrah collection .

I edge jointed some jarrah today and was able to get some little waffers happening. I then gave it a real workout on some rock hard Karri that some sod had attacked with a scrub plane and after some adjustment I was really starting to flatten off the face of a large board. Probably the most amazing thing with this plane is producing great long curlies off pine boards without any tear out. Nothing is safe

I've had my engineers square all over it looking for something that wasn't square or flat but its so near to perfect its unbelievable. And that without showing any signs of ever having been seriously worked on. This is the worlds best example of the old adage...they don't make em like they......

Its a slippery slope . Thanks Derek

    Cheers
    Squizzy

So you're the lucky man? That's like Anakin Skywalker being groomed by Emperor Palpatine....'You do not know the power of the Dark Side...Darth Squizzy!'

Curlies. Do you reckon they could be battered, deep-fried and eaten?

    I do.

Looks like an excellent purchase Vic. It sounds like it is already earning it's keep by giving you practical results and pleasure. Congratulations.

You can never have enough planes, that is why Mr Stanley invented the 1/2s

Squizzy, sounds like your ears are too close together, the grin has trouble fitting in..
Looks like you are doomed for planedom now, wonder if I show my Cypress collection (far too many cubes) I could do a deal.

How is your waterstone collection and honing gear going Squizzy? That blade will need a bit of tuning soon.

WB, have not got around to waterstones yet but I have a good oil stone (new) which will do the trick. To get that final hone I'm seriously considering the disc sander after seeing how good a job it does in 2 seconds flat.

The Karri knocked the blade around already but it still cuts well.

Mmmmmm Next time you visit Melbourne I think we may need to discuss the various sharpening methods over a beer (if you drink beer!) in my shed.

With any luck we will agree before the fridge is empty.

I thought I was going to have to pry it out of his cold dead claws
Yeah, right!!! How you seen the size of this guy? The reason he is called Squizzy is that you have to squint up into the sky and sun to catch a glimpse of his head. Now it was not simply as case of "I showed him my jarrah collection" - he waved around these 200 kg jarrah and karri logs like toothpicks. What was any red-blooded coward to do. I said, "please take this plane, Sir". I think he thought the #7 was a block plane. I'm scared he will return. What do I do?

    Regards from Perth

    Derek,

    I know what you mean.

I wasn’t going to say anything but as you have opened the ugly wound I might as well tell my story about Squizzy. After you and Driver left, Squizzy asked me if I wanted another beer, I was about to say no but fortunately I saw this evil look in his face and I had no option but to accept him buying me another beer.

Gee I was scared. This kept going for quite a few shouts but what choice did I have?

The crack in his armour is to allow him to buy you a beer. It subdues him for a short period of time.

He is an ugly difficult brute alright, it seems now he wants to do something with my lemon tree. I might just duck down to Al’s bargain emporium and pick up some old cheap tools to temporarily replace my good tools before Squizzy arrives in Melbourne. I am afraid he might repeat the behaviour he displayed at your place Derek.
