    Dunno mate, will decide when I see it.
    I like the look of the bare metal though.
    As to age;

    Stanley # 8 C in good condition. Plane measures 24" long 3 1/8 wide with a 2 5/8 cutting edge. Plane has rosewood tote and low knob with no cracks or chips. Knob does have a few green paint specks. In front of knob is cast Bailey, in front of tote is cast three pat dates. Mar-25-02 Aug-19-02 and Apr-19-10. No 8 cast to rear of tote. Japanning on plane is probably 85% with a few green paint specks. Iron on plane reads Stanley overtop of Rule and Level Co. overtop of New Britain Conn. overtop of U.S.A. Lever cap has no markings and works freely, sides and sole of plane are in great shape, no gouges, rust, or pitting. Frog on plane retians probably 85 to 90% of Japanning has small brass adjust knob and frog lock. Overall for a tool over 100 years old this is in great shape.
    Cheers

    Finished the Pope #5 today and the Stanley Bailey #4 1/2. Will do the Stanley #3 tomorrow.

    Suffering great angst as to the Record #6, as I only just restored it to its original colours.

    They are all looking good, back to the bare metal, but I'm beginning to worry about rust. I coated all with Silver Glide so we'll see.

    Still, all in perspective, I'm worrying about the colour scheme of my planes and kids are starving in Somalia.

    That sounds like a great idea. But does it leave your bench and tools stinking like a garage after a while ? ..... Thats the only thing that puts me off. But it sounds more convienient though. No rags, no putting plane down, just 'swipe' eh.

    When my shed starts to smell like a garage (when rehabbing planes) I just put some Huon pine through the WC2000. Smells great.
