Default Best brand of chisels in the world

I just broke the tip off of the blade of my favorite carving knife, and look at it as an opportunity to start upgrading my carving tools to professional quality. I'm sick of using cheap chisels and gouges that get dull fairly quickly. I have one nice chisel made by irwin and there is a very noticeable difference in quality.

So here is my question - if I want to start collecting chisels, gouges, and carving knives from one company, which company has the best reputation? I'm currently looking at two cherries. If I'm going to start shelling out the big bucks, I want to buy the chisels that my grandchildren's grandchildren might get some use out of.

    Who makes the best chisels?

    Who makes the best gouges?

Who makes the best carving knives?

    Chisels

    Lie Nielsen
    Harold and Saxon

These are the top end premium brands

Carving chisels and gouges I Would go with

    Pfeil Branded suff

All these will set you back From $50 per piece you could try second hand brands.
ie Titan Marples Stanley Berg etc

The Pfeil brand is excellent quality and has a very broad range of carving Gouges, Chisels and knives. Another product I find very useful is the Warren brand which can be bought from Lee Valley Warren Chisels & Gouges - Lee Valley Tools - Woodworking Tools, Gardening Tools, Hardware Supplies

Blue Spruce Toolworks out of the U.S. are amazing as well! I just recieved a set of nine Bench chisels with infused Walnut handles instead of the Maple and have had a smile on my face ever since!

I wouldn't worry about the grandchildren......But still: Two Cherries is fine - I had to use several carving tools to clean UF rezin for an inlay ,and that stuff is HARD - the Two Cherries survived longer than most. Another good brand is Henry Taylor of Sheffield (don't mind the looks ) Pfeil is famous for its quality , but I have not used it that much , so can't say. Ashley Iles has good name , too- can't comment , no personal experience.

Surely Spain has a history of producing fine steel. Do you have any local tool manufacturers Artesano?
    Cheers,

Yes ,the Mifer brand is back in bussines after 20 years out of the market - fine tools , and with boxwood handles , too - I didn't reccomend them earlier as I didn't think they are sold in your part of the woods. Old English carving tools , if you can find some at boot fairs , are the favorites of many carvers I know - the plain carbon steel , you know , from the times before the manufacturers started to fix things that were OK and didn't need no fixing
