    Good luck to him.

Lean pickings for sellers on this side of the ditch. On Trademe a nice older Stanley No.7 (with newer iron) sold for just $NZ31 tonight, and a Record No.06 (minus irons) for just $NZ18. I'd have expected double for both of them.

Mind you, there's a Stanley No.10 1/4 in nice condition about to go for $NZ1000.

    Cheers, Vann.

ps And I picked up a Record 08 last week for $NZ67 - but that's me just gloating...

#8? Welcome to the big league.

Stanley #7 with a rusty blade and bad thread on the adjuster wheel for $17.....everything else was nice and straight though and I had it all stripped and parts replaced with parts from the #7 that I could never get set properly......don't know what was wrong with it but I decided it was the plane, not me.
We don't know how lucky we are......

Thanks Sean. It arrived yesterday. I've tried to work out it's age using recordcollector's website. It must be a bitza, as it has a 1945-52 lateral lever; a 1954-63 depth adjuster wheel; and possibly pre-war handle and knob. It's missing the toe screw, but I've got a couple of spare Stanley ones that'll probably fit. The iron looks okay, so I'm contemplating a Clifton cap-iron to stiffen it up.

    Cheers, Vann.

ps. That Stanley 10 1/4 that went for $NZ1000 had a corrigated base. There's a smooth base one going for $NZ450 in 30 minutes.
