Default Buffalo Forge 614r handcrank drillpress

okay.. I had to post this...

my Buffalo Forge 614 drillpress. Works great.. heavy flywheel on opposite side keeps the momentum. It is missing an advancer which automatically advances the drill as you turn the crank. This was originally intended for metalwork I think... I am not sure I miss the advancer since I am working in wood and I like the control of just turning the top wheel to advance the drill.

The advance looks fairly easy to replicate, should you ever want one.

Hey thanks for the photo link! great photo! yeah I've been toying with some cardboard/thin wood versions of that piece. Then, I've just gotten a message from someone with another BF614.. who offers to make a copy on paper. So it looks like I'll go ahead and end up making the piece.

Your drill is on page 35, and there are other catalogs here.

Thanks for the link! : )
interestingly.. the antique dealer where I purchased this drill had another blacksmiths drill/post drill that was out of my reach financially.. it was never uncrated from about 90 yeas ago.. brand new/un-used. It's gone now.. but man, the one that got away!
