Default GROUP BUY Igaging marking gauge wheels expressions of interest

THIS THREAD prompted me to contact Igaging directly to source replacement marking wheels; they provided me the contact details of a person in Aus who imports directly and is looking at getting wheels in for me. I have asked for the price of one wheel shipped but also the cost of a pack of ten and I’ll happily set up a group buy if there is enough interest.

So, if you want a wheel or two please reply to this thread stating how many you are interested in; all replies will be considered to be non-binding!

Hi CT. I am interested (nearly lost mine today because I was motivated to sharpen it and dropped it after removing it) but have Veritas gauges. Do you know if they are compatible?

At the moment I can’t say if the two brands are interchangeable but I’m also ordering a Veritas wheel from my local Carbatec reseller and will able to do a comparison.

I believe that I have both gauges (No markings on the iGaging one).

From memory there was a bit of incompatibility so I had a look. The ID of the iGaging cutting wheel appears slightly larger. So it is difficult to perfectly centre the iGaging wheel on the Veritas and keep it centred in use. It still works.

I was planning to use some thread locker to tightly secure an iGaging cutter on a Veritas gauge so that it wouldn't move out of centre. But changed the plan as I came across extra cutting wheels and a mortise marking set up.

FYI comparing the ones pictured, the screws have different threads. On the older Veritas gauge I have the screw is pan head and the iGaging is countersunk (arguably better).

Now that's what I call a good background OM. For those not aware, some attention was drawn to the amount of hommus containers in one of my recently posted photos. I can only hope that the inclusion of the lid was intentional. If so

My Veritas gauge is only a few years old and the screw is countersunk, if that helps. Looking forward to your investigation CT.

I’ve received a reply; they can be purchased singly for $9 plus $8 shipping but he will do me a pack of ten for $88 shipped to me, delivery between 2-3 weeks.

So; for those interested I will pass them on for $10 shipped as they will fit in a small envelope and postage is only $1.10, each additional wheel will be a flat $8 extra.

I want two or three for myself so if MA & Simplicity want one each that’s half the order taken, and I’ll reserve one for Qwertyu as he did express an interest in his original thread. Of course, if more people suddenly require them then I’ll increase the order as required!

Thanks CT. Will this cutter fit the digital gauge too?

Hmmm… no idea on that! I also have the digital gauge but rarely use it; I think the wheel is smaller. Providing I remember I’ll have a quick look first thing in the morning before I head off to work; otherwise it’ll have to wait a couple of weeks until I return.

I’m putting in an order for ten anyway.

    UPDATE:

Ok; the bulk buy didn’t happen. After not receiving an order update or request for payment for two weeks I went with Derek’s suggestion of trying a Veritas wheel (they fit both the cutting gauge AND the digital cutting gauge!!!). Now that I had a way ahead I informed he vendor that the wheels were no longer required. Of course; it turns out he HAD ordered them… just never bothered keeping me informed

Anyway; he has now listed them on his Ebay shop HERE
