Best place to buy parallel clamps
Hi all
I'm looking to buy around 10 parallel clamps - bessey or Jet would be my preferred brands. I've looked at Jorgensen and they don't appeal to me as much as the others.
I've looked at buying from the US but the shipping is a killer. For example, shipping for 4 24 inch (600mm) and 4 40 inch (1000mm) is 220US, making the whole purchase around the same cost as buying locally. I could, presumably, throw in some other things to make the shipping more worthwhile. But it all seems quite expensive.
Has anyone else come up with a brilliant place to buy parallel clamps? Apart from the legendary group buy I missed?
cheers

Look in the market place. Someone there is selling Bessey copies he'd imported, look at "too many clamps".

Heya Trav... I take it you are back in Australia and not Roma.
The new Masters store sell Besseys.
I bought a couple of 600mm Revo's for $60 each, that is cheaper than Carbatec and importing them.
Cheers

Thanks HM and Wolften
I have seen the add in the marketplace section. Pity it is over in WA, not the east coast. I am worried that, by the time you add postage costs, they will not be significantly cheaper than the real deal for Jet or Bessey parallels. And given how much buying 10 or so of these clamps will cost, I don't want to find that they are not as good as the real thing. I am not suggesting that they are not as good, but just that, for me, the savings don't justify the risk.
Wolften - thanks for the heads up about Besseys in Masters. I'm not yet back from Rome, but will be in a few months, so I am simply doing a bit of advanced planning. There is no local Masters store in Canberra (then again, there is no Carbatec either) so I will continue to look for online offers etc. But if I don't have any luck, perhaps a trip up the Hume highway will be in order. Do you know if they had the 1000 or 1250mm versions too? And how much?
Thanks

Trav, have you thought about buying them in Europe, and bringing them with you? The exchange rate at the moment is great (unless your dough is already there).
Cheers, FF

The best price I have seen is at the Gasweld stand at the Sydney Wood show in June. get there early though.
The other option would be to fly home via the states and pick them up on the way.
Qantas has a good deal on excess pre paid bagage
