Carter plane threads
Hi all.
Doing up a very shoddy Carter #5 plane. Does anyone know for sure what threads were used ?..The lever cap screw is 1/4 UNF, but the tote screw and the front handle screw appear to be 1/4 Whitworth.. I say Whit because the last mentioned is simply a 1/4 inch bolt with the characteristic large head.
The two frog retaining screws are a problem, they were badly rusted and mutilated and hard to measure.. they are either 7/32 W, 7/32 UNC or 12/24 NC..
On a similar matter I am trying to complete a Carter 54 plough plane.. need some blades and a fence if anyone can help !
Ken.
