Cederick Loveland planes
I picked up a couple of old planes at a collectables fair last weekend here in Ipswich. One a regular old block plane and a rebate plane with the stamp of Cederick Loveland Mander park. Stamped on the front of the plane is Greenslade Bristol. I tried a Google search but came up with nothing. So i wondered if some one in here can shed some light on it for me. I would supply a picture but the camera is bung.

UKAlf is the plane brands expert, but she only checks here irregularly, so you can try pm'ing her asking her directly.

Bluegum,
The maker is Greenslade, Bristol. 1828 - 1937.
During that time they went through various marks on their planes. They are one of the most commonly seen makers, having made planes for more than 100 years.
W L Goodman - British Plane makers from 1700 is the reference.
The other mark is either a dealer or an owner...sounds like a cabinet maker perhaps??
Regards,
Peter.

Thanks for the replies, its a great starting point. I picked it up plus the other one for $25. I saw a story in AWR about tuning up an old plane and figured I would give it a go. I grabbed the Bristol( now I know what it is) just for thr hell of it.
