    Default Chain Drill chain.

    Hi all,
This is a Millers Falls Chain Drill No. 717, as shown in the attached page from a 1937 McPhersons catalogue. Photo 3 is chains with ruler for size perspective. I've got a few CD's with their chains missing and would like to replace them.
This style of chain, much smaller, was commonly used on the bath and hand basin plugs and for the flush chain pull on wall mounted cisterns when I was a kid.
My two questions are, what is this chain called and is it still being made?

    Cheers,
    Geoff.

In the U.S., it's called sash chain, although whether you could locate it under that name in sufficiently sturdy sizes - don't know. It was used in higher-grade installations of double-hung windows in the U.S., thus now somewhat antique windows; but, to my surprise, when I looked just now, it's still carried by at least one of the big building supply chains (known in certain circles as big boxy stores or the Borg, after the Star Trek character[s] whose signature lines included, "you will be assimilated.").

I refer to this style of chain as 'chandelier chain' - Chandelier Chain, Nickel. By the metre. Decorative Chain Australia – Chain.com.au

Bunnings or an older style hardware store should have it.

Thank you Bill and Alan, that's very helpful as I've never heard of either of those before.

    Cheers,
    Geoff.
