Default Changed my mind about a handle

Some time ago I made this small billhook from carbon steel (gauge plate). I turned & fitted a yew handle and while it looked pretty, as a handle it was totally useless.

I finally decided to make a new one and after a bit of violence got the old one off (I put handles on not intending them to come off). The new one is a traditional design and much better in use. Made from Imbuia which is a bit of a pain as the grain is all over the place.

The scabbard is made from American Whitewood re-inforced with cotton tape /CA bindings. Still have to make a leather belt frog for it.

Very nice, Mark. The yew handle looked lovely, it must have really been uncomfortable to push you to replace it, but the new handle looks great too.

    How thick is the blade?

    Cheers
...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

The blade is 3/16" (5mm give or take a bit) thick, with the cutting edge bevel about 1/2" wide.
