How to use a chisel?
I am a bit embarrassed posting this, but can anyone please tell me, or give me a link to a video, on how to cut a stopped dado with a hand chisel?
The dado will be 27mm long, 7.5mm wide, and 4mm deepregards,
Dengy

How to use a chisel?
At only four mm deep, I'd probably deeply incise the sides with a knife and square and then pare out the waste with a 7mm chisel from the open end.
But there will be other ways to skin your cat that the pros might suggest.
Cheers...I'll just make the other bits smaller.

Draw it up, put a center line down the length of the dado/mortise and use that as a guide drill to the correct depth with a 6mm bit,
use a 6mm or 1/4 chisel and pare, with the back of the chisel facing to the line being cut, to back to the lines.
Before you start, if the chisel won't shave arm hair, sharpen it till it does, then continue.
I generally pare back the ends first.
Keep checking to see how the fit of the tenon is going.
Cheers
Steve
