    Default Chisel identification wanted

    Hi

Hoping someone can tell be what type these ones are, and what the odd shaped tool in the pic is...as far as I know, it could be for stirring a cocktail!

Ignore the Berg framing chisel, I know what it is . I assume the larger is a registered mortice chisel, it was the favorite paint can opener of my late grandfather. Is the other a mortice or a firmer, and any idea of brand on either?

    Thanks
    Andrew

btw : pics taken just after the handle restoration was done - the stain/varnish + lemon oil hasn't left the surface feeling that bad, though I'll heed advice and go for linseed oil next time!

The tool on the right is a bearing scraper.

Is the chisel that you want ID'd the one second from left?

Most chisels have a makers mark on top of the blade near the handle....right where that flash flare is.

Don't get too hung-up on weather an old chisel is a firmer or a mortice. It's easier to tell with the larger sizes anyway.
We don't know how lucky we are......

    Hi,
I see your metal scraper has already been I.D.ed.
They are used for scraping white metal bearings and cast iron etc. even plain soles.
Here is a picture of a set of them.

I'm guessing the two on the left, and in particular the first one is/are Titan registered chisels. No logo's stamped on the blade?

I'll go with the one on the left as a titan firmer next in possibly a sorby.

    Thanks for the help guys!

No logo's on either, but both are well used so that explains why...but sounds like I have my first titan, yay!

Not sure what I'll use the bearing scraper for but as it was my late grandfathers I'll fin room for it somewhere. Who knows, maybe someday I will understand it and use it daily!
