On the underside of the lid are the long blade paring chisels with the standard paring chisels sitting in the top tray. Pic 7 has the firmer chisels in the first drawer and in the second drawer (pic 8) there are the truly beautiful set of mortice chisels with four corner chisels at the back.

The mortice chisels are massive in their construction but entirely in proportion. I'm just overawed by them.

Now the bottom drawer (pic 9) is interesting. The fish head chisels at the back are for cleaning out the bottom of deep mortices, but those at the front I'm not sure and I didn't take a good enough pic to see the tip of the blade. However I am reasonable certain that they are four pairs of skew chisels as they do seem to be two each of the same size and that would fit in with a left and right skew.

The corner chisels are a one-off for this set as they are not part of Trent's usual range.

    I hope that helps.

    Paul
    Thanks

That's great. Showing my own ignorance of course. I hope one day to be "needing" all those functions. Unfortunately buying tools isn't the same as buying time.

The tools are exceptional. Did he also make the Chest or was that client supplied?

I was originally blown away by the chest but on closer looking I became a little less so.
It appears to be a dressed up white laminate set of drawers, as you would get from a kitchen maker.

The false triple small top drawers are clever but appear to be three single facings just attached at the top with no backing or bracing. The bottom drawer is cut into the moulding and partially covers the decorative dots on each side. Also the gas struts really aren't in keeping with the look although highly functional.

I still wouldn't kick it out of the shed by any stretch I just don't think it is to the same standard as the contents.

Some interesting comments. The cabinet is indeed built on the lines of kitchen cabinet technology and Trent did make the cabinet. Even at this level there is a limit to what the market will stand with the price of this package coming in only a little under 5 figures.

I would also refer you to the comment made by RayG in post #23 where he refers to HO Studley's wonderful tool cabinet. To some extent the two tool cabinets are the antithesis of each other. H O's is a handmade cabinet of proprietary tools while Trent's is a more proprietary cabinet of handmade tools.

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of the top of the cabinet or you would have seen the handmade ebony and satinash checkered inlay that surrounds the lid. Perhaps I should have drawn more attention to the ebony inlay that surrounds the veneer on each drawer too. The lining of the cabinet is Murray Grey calf leather (all the green bits) and that was another omission on my part. I have a particularly affinity to that having once operated a small Murray Grey cattle stud (just a hobby).

Nothing is beyond criticism, but to some extent further indulgence in the cabinet could only detract from the core product: Those gorgeous and fully functional chisels.

I think it would be secret wish for every Tradesman to be able to create a really beautiful job that would last long after the Tradesman was gone. I hope the owner is aware of all the careful work that has gone into this treasure
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

If your Land Rover is the same year as mine, you'll have to put a very significant cash payment with it .

Here is a picture of the top of the chest.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1376744183.915813.jpg
I just asked Trent for the picture and he sent it down.
The client for this set will soon have it at home. Lucky fellow.

Thanks for taking the time to organise the pic with Trent. As others will see it was a serious omission from my original pix as the top is a handsome affair. I'm sure the final owner will be well pleased and I'm so envious, but I guess I'll have to join the queue there .
