Clamps - any Bessey competition in Australia?
In the near future I'll need to start plonking down some cash for some decent clamps. I had originally decided on Bessey K bodies after reading other threads but now that Masters is gone they're a little bit hard to find in Perth.
In previous threads there was some mention of Jet clamps being superior to the Besseys but they don't seem to be sold in Australia anymore. Can anyone recommend alternatives? Best place to order them online (Bessey/Jet/alternatives) would be appreciated too.

Timbecon recently added parallel clamps to their inventory.

I haven't taken a look at the timbecon ones yet. I'll probably head out there next week some time because I have a spare place on my clamp rack which just happens to fit 4 @ 600mm parallel clamps

You might like to look at this seller:
2 x Parallel Jaw Woodworking Clamps 24” 620mm not Bessey or Jet | eBay
I am not sure how prices compare, but he is also a Forum member. You can probably contact him direct by PM. "Aldav." He has a range of clamps of course not just the one listed above.

I bought 8 of the McJing clamps and was very happy, given the price.
See my detailed review here
McJing Parallel Clamps
I also have a few sets of Jet clamps that I bought on introductory special pricing, and they sure are a great product; no question that you can see the difference in quality compared to the McJing and to a lesser extent, the Besseys. Wish I had bought more!!
But the McJing should be fine for us weekend warriors, particularly if you are on a budget. If I was in business I would probably buy Bessie's, or bite the bullet and import some Jets as they will be a lifetime product and stand up to daily use.

I have the older style Aldav clamps and they are fine. The clamps he stocks now are slightly different in design so I cannot speak for them but the guy is really easy to deal with and a top guy.

Cheers for all the recommendations guys. I think I'm going to order a couple of each and then take it from there. Actually went in to Carbatec the other day to pick up some of the Besseys but unfortunately they were in the process of shifting the shop around so stock was low on everything.
For those that didn't know Carbatec WA have actually just been moved under the national brand so they'll start stocking the same line of products and honouring the same specials. Finally!

The K-Body 300mm x 95mm Bessey Clamps are quite heavier for their length (2.2kg). I would have thought most of the weight would have been taken up within the steel slide rails, but looking at the comparative weights on what I assume are an earlier Bessey model, that cant be the case. eg. 300mm (2kg) , 600mm (2.5kg).
