Hmm ok that's a shame. Well depends on what i need more frequently. I can see that if I had a CBN I'd do the hatch of chisels I have but then not really use it that frequently if their primarily made hogging off material until I get a lathe.
I was hoping finding a fine grit CBN and appropriate jigs/guides would replace the need for something like a tormek but sounds like it's good for primary bevel only and the rest. I still need to hone by hand.
The grinder ive purchased with its current setup is perfect for the restoration of tools I have been working through of late. Saw blades plane bodies and other components , this will really help but for speeding up my chisels and plane honing not so much.

This looks interesting instead of a CBN wheel. Would have more uses for what I'm after and will work with my grinder.

The most use so far is using the platen to clean up rough cuts in metal, in particular, from cutting out plane blade blanks with an angle grinder. I haven't used it for chisel sharpening, I am comfortable using a regular old 6" bench grinder with a white wheel to shape/remove nicks/square up and then waterstones to sharpen. I don't like using the front wheel for curved sanding, it's too lumpy.

A worksharp rotary sharpener is another alternative to the Tormek. Switching wheels is fairly easy. I think a bench grinder or belt sander is more efficient for removing significant damage.
Like anything else, there's a learning curve.... Make your mistakes on your cheap Chinese fare before ruining your good chisels....
