Spear & Jackson Medallions ?
Here are 2 medallions of S&J I'm looking at purchasing these saws but am unsure of the year so I'm hoping that someone might have an idea through these medallions as I can't find any information about them on the net.

Spear and Jackson was formed in 1830.
Assuming that the "200 years of sawmaking" means from 1760 when S&J's predecessor Spear and Love was formed, then the second saw is from after 1960.

Your right it seems after the 60's there is whiteness on the blade indicating to me he used a rust remover which I know first hand how that eats antique metal away this being a 1960-'s or later they probably used the same type of steel that's being used today so just maybe the rust remover doesn't have an adverse affect but still I won't take any chances.
I asked him about and he denied using it which for an eBay seller is pretty dishonest.

The first saw is Joseph Tyzack & Sons. The ring of text around medallions started before 1915, but these are later, the Tyzack probably earlier. You might get better info if you provided images of complete saws

yeah I should of but last night but I'm convinced they are from 1960's onward I doubt it if it's any later though, besides after corresponding with him something just felt off about him. He said applied no rust remover yet I can see it's done, he claimed to have received it that way but as a tool seller I doubt it. You know sometimes you just got to go with your gut feeling and stay away.
