Interesting... I didn't know that... I got it second hand but from what I can tell it just looks like a hacksaw to me.

Sorry, that is not what I was thinking.

Yes, it is the black handled plain steel framed jeweller's saw.

You are VERY close but not quite right.

Not sure I have made myself clear, I will have another go.
All the other saws are used with the handle over or above the article being cut.

I hope I have made myself clear, I know what I am trying to say.

    Colin.
Actually, there are two jewellery/coping type saws (top and second from top saws) both cut with the handle below the work piece.

    Cheers

#3 is designed to be used with two hands all the others are designed for single hand use.

Ooooh good answer. But I thought that you held the Disston with two hands...

Actually, I like that answer a lot, but it is not the one I was thinking about.

    Cheers

    alrighty then
The jeweller's saw is beside the fret saw instead of above it like all the others are in relation to those below them.

That would have been a tricky one, but that is the Disston matched with?

    Not my answer.

    Default Quick clue.

Funky Chicken was half right in his reasoning. I included the blue handled hacksaw to exclude his specific answer - but it is SOOOO close.

such a cunning plan you have, that's why you have the two at the bottom upside down
Ok well funky has established that it is the jeweller's saw. the reason could be that the blade tensioner is at the handle end at the top instead of at blade level like the fret saw and not at the front like the hack saw.
    Cheers

Actually, I tension the silver jewellers saw and the blue jewellers saw in the same way (by spring tensioning the frame itself. However, you are right is saying that you can tension the silver saw by pressing on shaft that extends past the lock.

    Again, close...

There is only one saw there, that can cut only one thing - wood.

I don't know if the last one is solved. If not, you may take this as an interlude.

That is not what I am thinking of... I put the Disston in there as the red herring.

Funky Chicken was SOOO close with his first guess. In fact, people might groan when they find out the answer...

I thought that after a while off I had better post a hard one...

Cameron is the jewellers saw the only one that can turn the blade in relation to the frame without releasing tension on the blade. cheers john c
